Daily Bite [Say] - Exercise “Wisdom” From Garfield Comics
Happy birthday, Jim Davis! In case you’re unfamilar, Jim Davis is the cartoonist who is most famously known for creating the Garfield comic strips all the way back in 1978, and he turns 68 tomorrow! While you may not have recognized the name “Jim Davis” off the bat, we know you most definitely recognized the lazy, furry feline that stars in his famous cartoon. Garfield is the original grumpy cat best known for lazing around the house, hating on his adorable but not-so-quick dog pal Odie, talking back to his owner Jon Arbuckle, and of course, eating lasagna. Suffice it to say, Garfield never has and never will be much of a fitness and healthy lifestyle guru. Lasagna isn’t exactly figure friendly, especially when paired with sleeping the day away. Regardless, Jim Davis has created a number of cartoons centered on the topic of health/wellness and fitness, and while Garfield may be one incredibly lazy cat, he does have a little bit of insight on fitness (even if it’s wrong!) These 5 cartoons are perfect examples:
Sometimes, just getting out of bed and getting dressed is enough to make you tired, and that’s okay.
This is dedicated to everyone who thinks one gym visit is all they need. It takes dedication and a lot of hard work to reach the big payout, but there’s also no harm in dreaming big. You just have to know how to be positive and realistic.
And sometimes you just have to take a chill pill.
Garfield may have changed the channel because he dreads exercise, but the fact of the matter is even the laziest people know you can’t “eat anything you want and still lose weight!” It ain’t gonna happen.
Because some people treat their gym as a spa day instead of a workout.
Who would have thought that a lazy cat could have so much to say about fitness?
Happy birthday, Jim Davis! And thanks for all the laughs over the years!

Ok, I’m going to show my age here….when I was around 10 years old we had a program on our computer (apple IIgs) that let me make my own Garfield comics and I spent hours and hours messing with that. This post brings back some good memories.
Gigi - such good memories from the good old days! and Dawn, I wish I could’ve done that when I was a kid! That’s awesome!
